The Hirayama PC-R8 HAST chamber is a precision Highly Accelerated Stress Test system manufactured by Hirayama Manufacturing Corporation and distributed in North America by Hastest Solutions Inc. Available in two test-chamber capacities — the PC-304R8 (34.5 L) and PC-422R8 (84.4 L) — the PC-R8 series delivers stable unsaturated and saturated HAST conditions for semiconductor package qualification, MEMS reliability, and electronic component accelerated stress testing per JEDEC JESD22-A110, IEC 60068-2-66, and JIS C 60068-2-66.

Dual-Vessel Structure for Stable Test Conditions

The PC-R8 series adopts a round-shape dual-vessel structure where the test chamber and steam generator are mechanically independent. This separation reduces mutual temperature influence between the dry-bulb test space and wet-bulb steam generator, producing more stable temperature and humidity conditions than single-vessel HAST designs while preserving the full effective area of the test chamber. The chamber interior is constructed from electrolytic-polished SUS316L stainless steel for corrosion resistance and easy decontamination between test runs.

Two Control Methods, Three Exhaust Modes

The PC-R8 supports both HUM (unsaturated) control for IEC 60068-2-66 / JIS C 60068-2-66 compliance with adjustable humidity from 65–100% RH, and STD (saturated) control for traditional 100% RH wet-saturation testing equivalent to a conventional pressure cooker. Three exhaust modes — slow cooling with humidity maintained, cooling with moisture kept, and quick exhaust — let engineers tailor post-test sample handling to specimen sensitivity.
